Based on its popular Panther kits, the Ersatz M10 features new sprues with the add-on M10 parts. Also, Dragon molded a new hull and turret to reflect the changes made to the real vehicles. Released in Dragon's "Smart Kit" line, the box includes Panther individual-link "magic" tracks as well as a small fret of photoetched-metal parts.

Our Ersatz M10 corresponds to the Panther G registered as B7 and commanded by the Oberfeldwebel Bachmann. This tank was destroyed by a direct hit from Bazooka on December 21, 1944, after crossing the Warche River during the attack on Malmédy. As part of a daring sabotage operation by German special forces in the Ardennes, several Panther tanks were disguised as US M10 Wolverine SPGs. The deed was done in true German style, with attention given to even the most minor details. As a result of this ruse, even at short range the German tanks looked very much like the American SPGs.
